“Then may he play on his harp in peace,
In a world such as heaven intended,
For all the bitterness of man must cease,
And ev’ry battle must be ended.”
“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.” — Oswald Chambers
I’m a grad student, an older sister, a daughter, an American, and a Christian. Those are the important things.
Also, if you really want to know what I live for and believe, watch the Romanian film ‘Bless You Prison‘ and the German film ‘Sophie Scholl: The Final Days‘, and read the novel ‘The Brothers Karamazov‘. Both films are free on youtube with English subtitles. As for the novel, get the Pevear & Volokhonsky English translation–it is the best and only ten bucks on amazon.
Chubbic is one of my names, bestowed upon me by an obliging younger sister about ten years ago. This blog is just a collection of my thoughts and any other data that might be helpful. I’ll be putting up anything I think might be interesting–book reviews, quotes and excerpts, images, idiosyncratic movie analyses, stream-of-consciousness data dumps, language learning helps, soapboxing on religion and politics. And perhaps short stories. I’ll republish alot of good stuff here too (old poems, etc).
I believe the Christ-child loves me, and I believe I shall be free!
I believe in silent splendor, I believe in living trees.
I believe in broken rocks, I believe in calming seas.
I believe in bread and water, I believe and live for Thee.
